Get Your Posture To Work For You

You want to look good, you want to feel good but your good intentions go into a slump the minute you sit down. After helping hundreds of people grapple with the posture conundrum, I’ve developed a simple approach that makes sense and works.

Feeling Good Is Looking Good

It’s summertime. The layers of bulky clothes have given way to sleeveless shirts and short shorts. What used to be under wraps- feet, legs, upper arms, neck, midriff, and back — is now out in the open. Wearing fewer clothes not only uncovers more flesh, it uncovers feelings of self-judgment and inadequacy- even for the buff and beautiful. In my therapy practice, it’s truly rare to find a person who loves their body... unconditionally.

Is Your Body An Asset Or A Liability?

How you value your body has a great deal to do with whether it you think it’s an asset or a liability. Pause for a moment to take stock. Clearly, your body proves its usefulness when it’s healthy and happy. Then, it can get things done, relay good information, and show up with confidence.

About Ann Todhunter Brode

Ann Brode is a longtime resident of Santa Barbara and recognized master in her field. For over 40 years she has focused on the relationship of body, mind and spirit as it shapes the physical experience.

Receiving her BA in 1968, Ann spent 7 years as a motor-perceptual therapist working with young children. In this early work, she discovered that every person learns differently and every body can change and find better balance, grace, and comfort. Seeking to help all people access their full potential for responsive awareness, Ann began extensive training with Movement Therapy and Bodywork pioneer Judith Aston. Using Aston Kinetics principles, Ann worked with individuals and groups to facilitate healing and teach viable life skills. Along the way, she developed a deep respect for the essential unity of body, mind, and soul.

“ Over the years I have heard testimony from patients who have been helped by Ann in remarkable ways. Her healing powers I believe are deeply layered. She is properly recognized as one of Santa Barbara’s master healers.”
